Obituary

Marjorie Leone Rowley Schroeder, 93, was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on September 23, 1928. She returned to her heavenly home on January 18, 2022.

She was an amazing woman who loves God, family, and Country. Marjie was always up for a good conversation. She loved bright colors, playing the piano, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and doing puzzles. She had a great sense of humor, quick wit and was always full of surprises. Her greatest love and pride was her family. She was always thinking of others. She loved and served others freely. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She played the piano in church meetings for over 40 years and served others in many capacities.

She and her husband raised their family in San Diego and enjoyed 27 Summers in Yellowstone National Park where they met in 1947 and fell in love. She worked at Hamilton stores, and he worked seasonally as a Park Ranger and Naturalist. Together, with their 4 children, have many fond memories of adventures traveling to Yellowstone every summer and living in such beautiful places. Her stories of real-life experiences are legendary, and she loved to share them with anyone who would listen.

She worked many jobs in her lifetime including: W.H. Hobbs and Supply, Yellowstone, the San Diego Zoo, and she even rolled dynamite! She retired as an eligibility worker in the welfare department in San Diego and Lake counties to help others sustain jobs, housing, and food.
After her husband's retirement in 1984, they moved to Lakeport California where she continued to work for a few years in the Welfare department while also serving as Relief Society president. They enjoyed retirement and made many close friends in the beautiful area of Northern CA until late 2006. They returned to San Diego County to live with family in Escondido where they had a nice granny flat overlooking the city and they enjoyed bird watching and being near grandkids again. She was widowed in July of 2008.

She relocated to Idaho Falls, ID in 2020 with her youngest son Perry and his wife Robin. In late Summer 2021, she moved to Homestead Senior Living in Rexburg. Where she enjoyed meeting new friends, great meals, wonderful caregivers, and lots of fun activities and outings.

She is survived by three sons: Gordon, Rick (Karen), and Perry (Robin); 14 grandchildren along with their spouses and 24 great-grandchildren; nieces: Amy (Thomas) Padgett and Susan (Keith) Dill.

She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Richard K Schroeder Sr.; daughter, Linda Goold; parents: Gordon Foster Rowley and Mary Irene Farrell Rowley; sister, Mary "Betty" Goebel; and great-granddaughter, Bianca Johnson.
