Martha Marie VanZee, 78, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away and ascended into heaven after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.  She went peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family. Martha was under the care of her family and One Source Hospice.

Martha was born on April 27, 1939, in Ashton, Idaho, to Gustav Carl Steinmann and Martha Marie Steinmann.  She graduated from North Fremont High School in 1957 and went on to earn her license in cosmetology.  She married James Dale Kuck in 1958.  Martha was a homemaker and resided in Idaho Falls, Idaho and had five children, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren from her marriage with Jim.  Martha and Jim later divorced.

Martha later remarried in 1986 to Jim VanZee.  She and Jim moved to Ogden, Utah where they both worked for Morton Thiokol for five years, they then retired and moved to Sequim, Washington where they lived until his death in 1996.

Martha moved back to Idaho Falls, Idaho immediately after being widowed to be near her children.

She is survived by her five children: Bryan James Kuck, Trenna Marie LePage, Frank Morris (Lisa) Kuck, Annette (Randy) Marshall and Mitchell Ryan Kuck; one sister Mable (Vick deceased) Marotz; one brother, Herbert (Donna) Steinman; and her longtime companion, William (Bill) Dirk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Martha Steinman; two sisters: Eleanor (George) Glarborg, Caroline (Wayne) Valentine; and one brother, Carl Steinman.

Martha was a beautiful, fun, classy lady and loved socializing with family and her many friends.  She had an amazing amount of energy, took great pride in her home and yard. She loved to play cards, golf, and entertain.

Martha spent the last 18 years of her life traveling the world, golfing, camping and enjoying retirement with her loving companion of 18 years William (Bill) Dirk.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017, at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1730 St. Clair Road, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
