Marvin Jasper Anderson, 86, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away at the home of his son on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice. Marv was born on September 11, 1928, in Idaho Falls to Marvin and Flora Anderson. He grew up in Ammon, and graduated from Ammon High School in 1946. He graduated from Idaho Barber School in Boise as a Registered Barber. He received his B.A. in Education from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He served in the United States Army. On July 26, 1950, he married his true love Rosemarie Wright, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She died on August 6, 2012. Marv always lived in Ammon, except for the time he was attending school. He worked as barber, bus driver, school teacher, mailman, railroad breakman, security guard and Reactor Boiler Operator. He was always a barber before or after other work hours and always on the weekends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day-Saints. He served as High Priest Group Leader and he served a full time mission to E. Canada Toronto area. His own calling in the church was the official door greeter with a pocket full of candy for the kids. Marv served as Ammon City Councilman for eight years, as an Ammon volunteer firefighter, and a notary public. He enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to and telling stories in the barber shop, picking watercress on Easter at Taylor Mountain, reading and growing tomatoes. Dad was always full of vinegar, a jokester and full of tall tales, especially if they involved fish. He is survived by his son, Marvin (Doreen) Anderson, of Ammon, ID; his daughters: Tamara Edwards, of Mesa, AZ and Nola (Ron) Aldrich, of Las Vegas, NV and one sister, Shirley (Merlyn) Browning of Shelley, five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemarie, his parents, five brothers and one sister. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., at the Ammon 1st Ward, 3000 Central Ave, Ammon. Family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Ammon Cemetery.
