Obituary

Marvin Jacob Jorgensen, 89, of Idaho Falls, died June 2, 2011 at Promontory Point in Idaho Falls. He was born March 24, 1922, in Idaho Falls, to Hans and Carrie Nielsen Jorgensen. He was raised in Idaho Falls where he attended school in Idaho Falls. He loved Stock Car auto racing and worked on a race team consisting of his uncle Lawrence Barney and his uncles brother Wilford. He also obtained his pilot's license. Marvin joined the US Army during World War II and was a member of the 116th Engineer's Combat Unit and spent 41 months in the South Pacific islands of New Guinea, PaPaun and Southern Philippines and received several medals and awards. Marvin married Glenna Winn June 29, 1947 in Idaho Falls. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 28, 1964. Their marriage was later solemnized April 30, 1968 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Marvin retired from Amcor after 24 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union and continued to work at various jobs until he was 85 years old. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. Marvin could fix, build, or repair almost anything. Marvin's presence on this earth has left an indelible print of love and respect on the hearts of all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Glenna Mae Winn Jorgensen of Idaho Falls; Daughter, Kay (J) Ramey of Blackfoot; Daughter, Maren (Kevin) Lonergan of Lake Ozark, Missouri; Daughter, Kerry (Bruce) Watts of Idaho Falls; Son, Harold (Trisha) Jorgensen of Rigby; Son, Lynn (Colette) Jorgensen of Idaho Falls; Daughter, Glenna Schmidt of San Diego, California; Daughter, Diane Pinson of Idaho Falls; Sister, Jody Anderson of Idaho Falls; Sister, Dorothy Decker of Blackfoot; 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Ammon LDS 27th Ward Chapel, 7118 S. Ledgerock Dr. with Bishop Jacob "Jake" Dustin officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday, June 6, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
