He was born January 9, 1919, in Clark, Idaho, to Enos Clyde Terry and Anna Margaret Evert Terry. He grew up on the family farm and received his early education at Antelope, east of Ririe. Marvin gradated from Idaho Falls High School in 1937. He attended Ricks College where he earned an associate degree in business. As a young man, he served a mission to Hawaii and while there Pearl Habor was bombed. While serving his mission, he also served as a member of the Hawaii Home Guard which guarded the shores of the island. Following his mission, Marvin worked in the shipyards in San Francisco. On December 27, 1946, he married Carol Olsen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived on the farm at Antelope without modern conveniences where Marvin worked alongside his father and brother. After several years at Antelope, Marvin purchased a farm on the East River Road where they lived for a few years before returning to Antelope. When their oldest daughter was ready to start school, they moved to a farm in Milo. Marvin worked several different full time jobs while farming to support his family of daughters. In 2008, they moved to Idaho Falls to be close to their daughter. As an active church member, Marvin served in many different callings throughout his lifetime. Marvin and Carol served a mission at the Idaho Falls Temple Visitor's Center and to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City. Marvin also served as a temple worker. Marvin was never afraid to try new things and was very interested in technological devices. He mastered the computer well enough to write his life history. He loved to learn new things.
