Mary Jane (Parkinson) Anderson, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 of complications from cancer.
Mary Jane was born on January 12, 1948, in Preston, Idaho, to Samuel Calvin and Opal Parkinson. She grew up in Franklin, Idaho and graduated from Preston High in 1966 . She went on to attend Utah State University for her degree in General Education. While at college, Mary Jane married Douglas Anderson in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mary Jane taught elementary education for 37 years. She started teaching in Utah, but the majority of her career was spent at Cloverdale Elementary School. Along with teaching, Mary Jane was gifted in music. She played piano, organ, & sang in several choirs. She was able to perform around the country while singing with the Sounds Choir for 40 years. Mary Jane was also very involved with Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP).
She served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She and her husband served as missionaries at the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors' Center and later served as temple workers.
Some of Mary Jane's favorite pastimes were spending time with family, traveling with Doug, reading, & attending musicals, plays, and ballets. She spent a lot of time at the family cabin in Island Park, and in Utah and Colorado visiting her daughters and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin, mother, Opal, and sister, Paulette.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas; daughters: Natalie and Leslee; sons: Mike and Brandon; and sons-in-law: Kyle Roman and Kenton Francis. Mary Jane is the blessed grandmother of 9 grandchildren, who will all miss her smile, hugs, music, cooking, story reading, back scratching, and radiant love.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m., on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the LDS Church, 1165 Azalea. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30pm, Friday, October 20, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, and from 9:00-10:00a.m., prior to services at the church. Interment to be held following services at the Franklin, Idaho cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
