Obituary

Mary Lynn Stevenson Barreiro, 39, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at her home. Her battle against cancer ended peacefully with her family by her side. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Mary was born on January 26, 1978, to Hal R. and Sheryl Marie Nelson Stevenson, in Burley, Idaho. She grew up in the Rupert area, and graduated from Minico High School in 1996. She attended Idaho State University and BYU-Idaho.

On August 17, 2002, she married her true love, Josue Barreiro, of Sau Paulo, Brazil, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union two beautiful children were born, Marina and Maximo. Some of her happiest moments were spent with her children.

Mary touched the lives of hundreds of youth and adults through her work at Padron Counseling as a CADC.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a two-year mission to Mendoza, Argentina.

Mary will be missed by all for her humor, kindness and testimony of the LDS gospel.

She is survived by her husband, Josue Barreiro, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her children: Marina and Maximo, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her mother, Sheryl Stevenson, of Rupert, Idaho; her sisters: Teresa (Chad) Roberts, of Victor, Idaho, Ann (Dain) Christensen, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Karen (Eric) Miller, of Twin Falls, Idaho; her brother, Lance (Bettie) Stevenson, of Rupert, Idaho; her mother-in-law, Ana Torres Barreiro, of Virginia; brother-in-law, Moises (Silvia) Barreiro, of Jaguarao, RS-Brazil; her sisters-in-laws: Gislaine (Daniel) Barreiro Silveira, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Gisel (Isaac) Barreiro Andrage, of Salt Lake City, Utah; her grandmother, Lola Nelson, of Rupert, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hal R. Stevenson; her father-in-law, Moises Barreiro; her grandfather, Gordon Nelson; and her grandparents: Melbourne and Gwen Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the Lincoln LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 3700 E. Lincoln Road, with Bishop Brian Seedall officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Rupert Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
