IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
Leberknight
February 27, 1940 – April 11, 2020
Mary Elizabeth Heald Leberknight, age 80, passed away peacefully on 11 April 2020, due to Alzheimer's.
Mary gave thanks to all who became her friends – which is just about everyone she met. Her greatest gift was to be present for people to give them comfort, joy, and love.
Born 27 February 1940, to Barbara Ammon and George Dewey Heald, she was raised on their homesteaded Wyoming ranch. Mary began her formal education in a one-room schoolhouse and went on to study at Black Hills Teachers College. It was there she met James Walter Leberknight with whom she was married for over 60 years. They had five daughters and a very full life.
Mary was happiest when caring for others. She set up 4-H Clubs and adopted many Members into her and Jim's lives. She was involved with Homemakers, Toastmasters, volunteered at local schools, and was active with Hospice.
Mary believed in the power of prayer and was active in the Anglican Prayer Ministry. She loved people and was delighted to serve as Lay Eucharistic Minister, Hospital Chaplain, and Hospice Chaplain as well as on the Vestry at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Leberknight. She is the much-loved mother of Wanda & Rick Howie, Loretta Leberknight & Ronald Klein, Joann & Patrick Malone, Cheri Leberknight, Teresa Leberknight & Dale Hensel. She will be remembered and loved by her grandchildren, siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to make a donation in Mary's name to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 270 N. Placer Ave., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402.
A Private Memorial service will be held on September 11, 2020 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 270 N. Placer in Idaho Falls. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
