Matthew Glen Jenkins, 28, has gone home to be with our Lord. Born July 13th 1984 in Seattle Washington, he was a bright and inquisitive child. Moving to Bothell in 1985 Matt was roaring to go. He started his life-long love of learning at Crystal Springs Cooperative Preschool and continued to the Northshore School Districts Parent Cooperative at Lockwood Elementary. Both of these formed a great foundation that continued at Skyview Jr High and Bothell High School where Matt graduated in 2003 with honors. After receiving several scholarships and grants, he went to Whitman College in Walla Walla where his love for outdoor sports and geology created his focus in life. During this time he spent valuable time student teaching at a local middle school. Earning a Bachelors Degree with honors in Geology-Environmental Studies from Whitman College in 2007. After graduation, Matt backpacked through Europe touching many lives on his journey. He loved traveling and welcomed great adventures to Thailand, China and throughout the states. Central Washington University was his next stop earning a Masters degree in Geological Sciences earlier this year. He was an avid outdoors lover excelling in skiing, hiking, fishing, rock climbing, biking and marathon running. During his many travels, Matt discovered the states of Colorado and Wyoming fueling his love of nature. This summer, Matt was selected to be an intern instructor at the Teton Science School when we lost him due to a tragic car accident. Loving the teaching of children and adults alike, Matt was blessed with many incredible gifts. He had a dream to relocate to Jackson, Wyoming and was just beginning this newest adventure of his life. He touched and enriched countless lives, as this was his gift. Matt was preceded in death by his proud grandparents George Jenkins and Glen and Irene Yake. Matt is survived by his parents Timothy and Charlotte Jenkins of Bothell, WA, his brother Nathan Jenkins of Bothell, WA. Grandmother Jean Jenkins of Camano Is, WA. Uncles and Aunts, Steve and Yupa Jenkins, Anita Williams, and Dan and Laura Yake. Loving cousins, Maia Jenkins, Jason and Cori Nickerl, Marc Williams, David and Jonathan Yake. We have been blessed by his short time here and have been amazed at the lives he touched. We will miss him dearly as he departs for his last greatest adventure. A celebration of Matthew's life will be held August 11th, 2012 at 3:00 at the Loft at Russell's , 3305 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell, Wash.
