Maxine Arrilla Helling, 77, of Rigby, passed away from natural causes Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Gardens of Rigby. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.

Maxine was born on June 19, 1942, in Edgemont, South Dakota to Laurel Elvis Jr. (Pete) and Myrtle Grace Schoenfeld Garrett. She grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming. She attended Sheridan High School and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1960.

On November 17, 1959, she married Wilford (Willie) Lee Helling in Sheridan, Wyoming. Willie died on June 27, 2006. Together they had two boys.

They lived in Casper, Wyoming where she worked for the school district, Target, Lou Talberts, and Oaks. They moved to Story, Wyoming and then back to Sheridan. After losing her husband she relocated to Idaho Falls to be near her son, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Lutheran church.

Maxine enjoyed going to auctions with Willie, gardening, horseback riding, boating, and riding motorcycles with Willie.

She is survived by her son, Kirk Helling of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her granddaughter, Crystal (Benjamin) Pancheri of Ririe, Idaho; Great-grandchildren: Ciara, Reagan, Parker, and Catryce; her brother, Ronald (Linda) Garrett of Sheridan, Wyoming; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Helling; parents, Myrtle and Laurel Garret Jr.; and her son Jac Helling.

Private family services will be held at a later date at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery in Sheridan, Wyoming. Cremation was done under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
