Maxine Virginia Bailey Tobin, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away March 7th at her home. She was born June 20, 1920 in Menan, Idaho, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Bailey. She was raised on the family farm and also helped in her mother's diners. She graduated from Roberts High School where she was head cheerleader. Following graduation, she moved to Idaho Falls and worked at Joy Drug and Rexall Drug. She met Quentin James Tobin, the love of her life, at the skating rink and they were married on January 21, 1942. They spent their lives in Idaho Falls, raising three children and operating Tobin Drycleaners. Maxine was active in the Sacred Heart Hospital Pink Ladies, Soroptimists, Eastern Star, and DOES. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook, and lived for parties with her close knit family. She was also blessed with a few special friendships spanning several decades.

Quentin and Maxine loved to travel. From 1974 to 1980, they traveled extensively in the winters, managing a working guest ranch in Walden, CO for Wynn-Dixie tycoon A.D. Davis in the summers. Their travels took them to Spain, the British Isles, Canada, Mexico, and the southern United States.

Following the death of her beloved Quentin in 1986, Maxine moved to the University of Idaho campus in Moscow to be a housemother for the Alpha Phi sorority for four years. She was treasured for her gentle humor and kind nature earning her honorary initiation into the sorority by her girls. She returned to Idaho Falls and spent the last few years as a cherished and feisty spirit in the company of her family and friends.
