Jessie Maxine Tucker Wight passed away peacefully at her home in Fairwinds/Sandcreek Retirement Community in the arms of beloved family members on December 17, 2013, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the age of 94. She was born on February 9, 1919, the 9th of 11 children born to George W. Tucker and Keziah Frances Mower Tucker, in Fairview, Utah. She grew up on the family farm. At the age of 4, the family moved to Provo. As a child, she enjoyed working with her family, going on hayrides and watching her brother's show-off. In 1934, she graduated from Provo High School. On Aug. 16, 1938, she married Joseph Monte Wight in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1951, the family moved to Pinedale, Wyoming, where they established the Lakeside Lodge Resort, a fishing and hunting lodge on Fremont Lake. In 1962, they became the first snowmobile distributor, Bombardier West, west of the Mississippi. In 1965, the family moved to Idaho Falls where they established headquarters for a 14-state distribution of Ski-Doo snowmobiles that eventually included 425 dealers. In 1972, they began Monte Wight Toyota-Lincoln-Mercury in Idaho Falls and later added Monte Wight Chevrolet in Rigby and Monte Wight Motors in St. Anthony. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many leadership positions. She also served as a stake organist and was an organist in the temple until she was 91 years of age. She continued sharing her talent as organist in the Fairwinds Branch until the time of her death. Her love of music started at a very early age and she utilized those talents to continually help those around her find peace and fulfillment. As an accomplished pianist, she taught hundreds to play the piano and the organ; her home was always full of music students. She organized and instructed many musical programs and delighted in seeing those around her develop their talents. Maxine was President of the Idaho Falls Music Club; at the time, the music club was instrumental in starting the Festival of Trees which has become an annual community event. Maxine loved the outdoors and the beauty of the earth. Later in life, she loved to garden and her flowers were adored by family, friends, and neighbors. Maxine's hands were indeed talented - from playing music on various instruments, writing amazing stories, quilting, gardening, and making grandkids her special hot chocolate. Maxine did everything with love and especially loved her family. She reminded them constantly; "Family is what it is all about" and would always praise, motivate, and uplift their spirits. To her, nothing was more important. Maxine's life was a legacy of inspiration, her talents a blessing to the downtrodden, and her love will be everlasting in our souls and hearts. Her music, her words, her beauty, and her hugs will always remain constant within us. Grandma you will always be with us as we overlook Fremont Lake on your hill. We love you. She is survived by her children: Patricia Wight of Idaho Falls; Gary R. (Pamela) Wight of Idaho Falls; George E. (Elizabeth) Wight of Phoenix, Arizona; and Kathy M. (Dennis) Marsden of Idaho Falls; 19 Grandchildren and 29 Great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, J. Monte Wight; a son, Ronald Wight; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Kendra Wight, and a great-grandson, Joseph Tucker Wight and 10 siblings. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Sage Creek LDS Church, 3370 N. 5th West, Idaho Falls, with President Dale Mickelson officiating.
