Obituary

Micheal Gene Abegglen, age 55, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2005, at his home following a long battle with cancer.

Mike was born June 28, 1950, to Gene and Donna Wright Abegglen in St. Anthony, Idaho. Mike was raised and educated in St. Anthony, graduating from South Fremont High School. He attended Ricks College where he completed his training for aircraft mechanics.

While at Ricks College, he met Susan Hope Cutchshaw from Decatur, Georgia. On August 27, 1971, they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple, and were able to remain sweethearts during their 34 years of marriage.

Mike was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership positions. Many of those years were spent with the scouting program which he excelled in.

He enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, sports and camping. He loved working with the youth in sports, and he coached many of the teams his children were on.

He was thrilled at the opportunity to travel, and a highlight of his life was a trip to Europe, which he spoke of often.

Above all, Mike cherished any time he spent with his family. He was never without a joke for any occasion and enjoyed a sharp wit. He spent his life enjoying others, helping others to feel good about themselves and he entertained us all with his great storytelling.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Cutchshaw Abegglen, children Bryan Michael Abegglen, Bethany Dawn Abegglen Fair, Sean Christopher Abegglen, Danny Brett Abegglen, and Jeffrey Michael Abegglen, of Idaho Falls; daughter-in-law, Heidi Abegglen; son-in-law Robert Fair; mother Donna Willyne Wright Abegglen; brothers Kim Abegglen, Zane Abegglen, and Ryan Abegglen; sisters Sherry Abegglen Robison, Cinda Abegglen Loucks, Penny Abegglen Albiston, and Jacque Abegglen; granddaughter Emory Abegglen and grandson Carter Fair.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Abegglen.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at the Coltman LDS Church, 12448 North 5th East, in Idaho Falls under the direction of Bishop Lewis Bird. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2005, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and from 12-12:45 p.m., Tuesday at the church.
