Michael Bruce Black, 55, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, beloved son and brother, passed away Friday May 10, 2013 at his home from cancer, with family by his side. He was under the wonderful care of Avalon Hospice. He was born September 18, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bruce King Black and Shirley Jacobsen Black. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah; Scottsdale, Arizona, and then at the age of 9 years old the family settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended grade school through high school in Idaho Falls. He spent 42 years confined to a wheel chair after a shooting accident left him paralyzed, but Mike still enjoyed life. Mike was a Christian. He played guitar and was a member of a band. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and playing music. He is survived by his parents: Bruce and Shirley Black of Idaho Falls, and sisters: Shellie (Dennis) Shurtliff of Idaho Falls; Susan (Rudy) Steinman of Ashton, Idaho; Shauna (Rusty) Crofts of Evanston, Wyoming,a and Jamie Daniels of Idaho Falls and several nieces and nephews. A private celebration of his life will be held and announced at a later date. Arrangements have been under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
