He was born May 4, 1951 in Montpelier, Idaho to Orin Koberstein and Juanita Jensen Koberstein. He was born 3 months after his father died of polio. He grew up in Idaho Falls and surrounding areas.
On September 1, 1990, he married Wendy Myers in Reno, Nevada. They were divorced in 2001.
He received a Fine Arts degree at the University of South Florida (USF) and since 2002, he had been employed by university (USF) as a webmaster. He had previously been involved in art work in New Orleans, Computer stores and magazines, Cross country ski and ice skating.
He has always had great interest in and talent for art which is reflected in his website www.michaelkoberstein.com.
Survivors include his mother, Juanita Gray of Idaho Falls; a brother, Terry (Luetta) Koberstein of Antioch, California;3 step-brothers, Jeff Gray of Syracuse Utah, Brian (Cathy) Gray of Idaho Falls, and Kevin (Shelby) Gray of Idaho Falls, and one step-sister, Jane (Keith) Ellmaker of Everett, Washington.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 23, at the LDS 14th Ward Chapel, 651 Gladstone St., Idaho Falls, with Bishop Blaine Eborn officiating. The family will visit with friends for one half hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho.
