Obituary

On November 27, 2021, Mildred Dorothy Pixley George, loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend passed away at the age of 75 from complications from Alzheimer's disease. Mildred was born on April 27, 1946, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to William and Dorothy Pixley. She was the third of six children. Mildred grew up in Reseda, California and graduated from Reseda High School.

On August 29, 1970, she married Gary Scott George. In 1971, Mildred joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Gary and Mildred were sealed in the Church's Los Angeles, California temple in 1975. With Gary, Mildred was able to realize her greatest dream and passion: being a mother and grandmother. They moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1976, where they raised five children. In Idaho, Mildred swapped her California roots to become a modern-day pioneer woman. She learned how to sew, garden, can fruits and vegetables, bake bread, and raise chickens, sheep, and pigs. She also learned how to pull a trailer so she could take her children to horse riding lessons. She coached her children's teams and attended their many sporting, music, and other events.

In addition, Mildred helped Gary run his dental tech business, worked as a substitute teacher, and then was the secretary at Lincoln High School. Mildred loved working at Lincoln, where she provided love, support, and guidance to students and faculty alike.

The only thing Mildred loved more than being a mother was being a grandmother, and her grandchildren adore her. She made each one feel loved and special. Mildred enjoyed planning family activities to bring her children and grandchildren together, like annual trips to Bear Lake, Fourth of July BBQs, and Christmas traditions.

Mildred had a gift for making people feel loved and seen, no matter their circumstances, and always gave great advice. Mildred had the best laugh and was the life of any party.

Mildred enjoyed serving in her church, especially with the youth. Girls camp was especially fun when she was in charge. She and Gary served as missionaries at the Idaho Falls canary for seven and a half years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bruce. She is survived by her husband Gary, her five children Rebekah Myers (Kurt), David George (Shellie), Rachel Terry (Justin), Sarah Hurst (Jeremy), and John George (Julie), 13 grandchildren, her sisters, Kathy, Linda, and Patricia, and her brother Gary.
