Mildred E. Smith Schwabedissen, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother died at her home on August 9th in Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was 95 years young. Mildred was born April 1st, 1920 in Shelley, Idaho. She was the daughter of Francis and Myrtle Smith. Mildred was the 8th of 13 children. She grew up on the family farm outside of Shelley, Idaho where the family worked hard but had great family fun and togetherness. All her life she was very close to her siblings. Mildred graduated from Shelley High School and Utah Agricultural College (Utah State University) and taught home economics for a few years. While teaching at Shelley High School, she met another young single teacher named Roy Schwabedissen. They were married June 4th, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Most of Mildred's life was spent in Riverside, Idaho raising her 4 children: Larena, Deanna, Anita, and Craig. She was a hard worker, beautiful seamstress, extremely organized, and had a very positive outlook on life. Her cinnamon rolls were known throughout the neighborhood. She found great joy serving in the LDS Church, the Idaho Falls Temple, the community and her neighborhood. Her focus in life was serving, teaching, and loving her husband, children, and grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her children: Larena (Tom) Matthews, Brigham City, Utah; Deanna (Chad) Dance, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Anita (Lowell) Randall, League City, Texas; Craig (Ann) Schwabedissen, Sandy, Utah; 19 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters: Donna (Carlos) Nielsen, Maxine Ransom, Vanda Kendall, Dorothy (Dick) Crandall, a brother Dean Smith, and a brother-in-law Paul Schwabedissen. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Roy Schwabedissen, her parents, and 7 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Sandcreek 2nd Ward, 2545 Mesa St., Idaho Falls, on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to funeral service. Visitation will also be on Friday, August 14th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 1st Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Interment will be in the Shelley Cemetery.
