Obituary

Mont Empey Harris was born June 6, 1936, in Lewisville, Idaho to Alfred Harris and Idola Empey Harris. He had one older brother, Deon, and 3 younger brothers: Revar, Larry, and Galen. He also had a younger sister, Valene.

Mont grew up in Lewisville, working on the farm when he wasn't in school. He left home when he was 15, going to live with his Uncle Walker.

Mont tried to join the Army but was unable to because of his heart murmur. He and a friend went to Colorado for a time to be ranch hands. He came back to Idaho and went into sales. He worked at Idaho Welding, then took a break for a few years. He later opened Industrial Welding Supply, which he later sold out to work for Whitmore Oxygen.

On June 2, 1965, Mont married Leola Coleman in Salt Lake City, Utah and suddenly became the father to three daughters: Debbie, Karen, and Geri. They had three more daughters together: Diana, Paula, and Amy.

Mont built a homestead on the County Line Road in Idaho Falls in 1975. A year later, when the Teton Dam broke, the basement was flooded and had to be renovated. In 1991, Mont bought a cabin in Island Park, Idaho where the family spent a lot of time in the summers. After 28 years of marriage, Mont lost Leola to a brain aneurysm on September 2, 1994.

He married Geneva Killian Cook on November 7, 1997. They bought a new cabin just down the road from the other one. In 1998, he and Geneva sold the house on County Line Road and moved to Island Park full time. After 14 years of marriage, Geneva passed away on November 4, 2011.

Mont married Linda Kay Cenell on June 2, 2013. They left Island Park when health complications required that he and Linda moved back to Idaho Falls to be closer to medical care. They lived in Linda's house on the County Line Road next to the homestead that he had built. After 6 years of marriage, Linda passed away on June 22, 2019.

Mont was diagnosed with lung cancer soon after Christmas 2021. He lived with Scott and Karen Bingham in Mesa, Arizona the last 7 months of his life. Mont passed away on June 30, 2022.
