Monte E. Windmiller, 71, of Rigby, died Monday June 6, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of pneumonia. He was born June 4, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the only child born to Walter E. Windmiller and Carol Denning Windmiller. When he was a teenager, his parents adopted his cousin, Diane Denning following the death of her mother. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1959. On February 3, 1961, Monte married Connie Youngstrom in Menan, Idaho. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Monte retired from Argonne National Lab to spend more time with his horses, working on his farm and keeping in touch with his lifelong friends. He enjoyed quarter horses, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, a good farm sale, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by the following: Wife, Connie Windmiller of Rigby; Daughter, Lisa Windmiller of Lewisville; Sons: Jim (Karla) Windmiller of Ammon and Dan (Jana) Windmiller of Rigby; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Windmiller. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Ammon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
