Myron Lufkin Davenport, 92, joined his beloved wife, Pearl Ina Ricks Davenport, on August 11, 2016. He passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter Becky and her husband, Aldon Tyler.

Myron, the son of Franklin Remington and Kate Lufkin Davenport, was born in Hood River, Oregon on September 14, 1923. He spent most of his youth across the Columbia River from Hood River in Bingen, Washington. When Myron was 16, he rode his bicycle to Provo, Utah to live with his brother, Franklin. He graduated high school in Provo a year early to join the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served on the USS Feland, a Doyen class attack transport, delivering Marines and equipment. He was present during many of the important naval battles in the South Pacific. He also served during the Korean conflict. He rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. While in the Navy, he met and married his sweetheart, Pearl. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They settled in Idaho Falls and eventually built a home in Woodville. Their last home was in Idaho Falls.

He loved serving in his LDS church callings. He served as a stake missionary for years, as a clerk and executive secretary in several bishoprics. He and Pearl served an LDS missions together in West Virginia, Albuquerque, and at Deseret Industries.  He worked as an electronics technician at Argonne National Laboratory near Idaho Falls and in Richland, Washington. Myron and Pearl spent a considerable number of years during retirement caring for their aging brothers and sisters.

Together, Myron and Pearl had six children, 29 grandchildren, and 75 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Myron is survived by his children, Luanne (Dan) Lance, Ron (Anne) Davenport, Joan (Richard) Kerr, Rebecca (Aldon) Tyler, Stan (Telecia) Davenport, and Bryan (Peggy) Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, parents, brothers and sisters, grandchildren, Ronald Terry Kerr and Mindy Lance, Brandon Davenport and great grandson, Ian Mackay Pearson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 E. 105th N., Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Bishop Jim Johnson presiding. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.
