Obituary

Myron Dale "Mike" Ehresman, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away on January 25, 2023, at Turtle and Crane Living Center in Idaho Falls.

Mike was born on November 29, 1926, in Miller, Nebraska, the son of Frank Ehresman and Josephine Hansen Ehresman.  He grew up on the family farm in Miller, Nebraska until he was 10 years old and the family moved to Idaho.

He attended Jerome High School in Jerome, Idaho. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was stationed in San Diego, California and Bremerton, Washington. He served on the USS Saratoga and USS Comstock and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal for his service. He was honorably discharged on July 11, 1946.

On July 23, 1950, he married Eunice Sweet in Twin Falls, Idaho. They celebrated their 72 nd wedding anniversary last summer. They lived in Mountain Home, Rupert and for the last nearly 50 years called Idaho Falls home.

He worked for Union Pacific railroad as a telegrapher-clerk throughout Idaho and retired from the Idaho Falls office in 1985. He also drove a school bus while his children were in school and drove a ski school bus to Bogus Basin on weekends during the winter.

Mike enjoyed square dancing and was active in the Sage Brush Shufflers in Mountain Home, River Reelers in Rupert, and the Promenaders and Jolly Mixers dance organizations in Idaho Falls. He enjoyed taking his young family on camping and fishing trips while they were growing up. He also shared his love of camping and fishing with his grandkids as they were growing up. He also was an avid pheasant and deer hunter.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls.

After he retired from Union Pacific, Mike and Eunice spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice Ehresman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his son, Ronald (Teri) Ehresman of Island Park, Idaho, and grandchildren: Jeremy (Brandi) Ehresman, Joshua (Megan) Ehresman, and Stacey (Forrest) Barron; his daughter, Janet Dosien of Augusta, Missouri, and grandchildren: Kym (Dan) Breen, Zachary (Danielle) Curtis, Courtney (Alex) Hermie, and Cody Curtis; and 16 ½ great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine Ehresman; his brothers: Howard Ehresman, Wayne Ehresman, and Gayle Ehresman; his sister, Verda Hansen; and his son-in-law, Tony Dosien.

He was under the care of Symbii Hospice of Idaho Falls. His family appreciates the loving care provided these last few months by his nurse Rochelle and his favorite granddaughter Stacey.
