Nelda Childs Petersen, 97, of Tacoma, WA passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2023, at Teton Healthcare of Cascadia in Idaho Falls, ID.

Nelda was born on February 19, 1926, in Centerfield, Utah. She was the daughter of Darral David Childs and Lela Johanna (Christensen)Childs.

She married Carl LeRoy Petersen on September 28, 1946, in Evanston, Wyoming. They were later sealed together for eternity in the temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 25, 1963.

She is survived by daughter Dannel Tuck and her husband Jon, sons Dan Petersen and his wife Colleen, and Don Petersen and his wife, Elizabeth; 20 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Rulon Darrel Childs, Nedra Bird, and Wayne C. Childs; her husband and daughters: Susan Pauley and Vicki Oldham; son-in-law, George Oldham; grandson, Kirk Petersen; and great-grandson, Quinton Petersen.

The service to celebrate her life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Parkland, WA on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM with burial following at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, WA.
