Nita Aileen Smith Rowe, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Nita was born March 30, 1928 to Raymond and Idaho Webster Smith in Idaho Falls. She grew up on a farm on Cotton Road, attended the York School and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1945. After high school Nita received her RN from the French Hospital, San Francisco and a Nursing Ed. Degree from San Francisco City College. Later, after her marriage to Ross Lewis Rowe in 1959, she was awarded an honorary PHT (Putting Husband Through) degree from the University of Oregon.
Nita played fast pitch softball for the Idaho Falls Rockettes and loved both bowling and golf. She was an avid reader. Her preferred genre was historical non-fiction. Nita was also a member of the York Grange and Red Hat Society.
While preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross; and sister-in-law, Geraldine. She is survived by her brother, Franklin Smith of Idaho Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, followed at 12:00 p.m., by a graveside service at Grant Central Cemetery, 154 N. 3300 E. Grant, Idaho.
