IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Noris
Burgener
July 6, 1941 – January 1, 2017
Noris Burgener, 75, of Idaho Falls, ID passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice and Visiting Angels.
Noris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held various positions. He is preceded in death by, Kathleen Burgener (wife), David Burgener (son), Amber Hoopes (granddaughter), Dave Burgener (father), Orba Larsen (mother). Living Survivors; Daughter HevenLee Hoopes (Brent Hoopes), Daughter Kimberly Taylor (Thayle Taylor), Daughter Audra Judy Burgener (Chad Williams), Sister Betty Wilson (Gary Wilson), Brother Tom Burgener.
Noris was born July 6, 1941 in Teton Valley Idaho. At the age of 8 he started working for his dad sweeping floors and cleaning the shop. During that time, he learned the art of body and fender repair. His experience progressed quickly to where at just 11 years old he painted his first car complete.
In 1958, Noris' senior year of high school, he married his sweetheart, Kathleen Ure, in the Idaho Falls Temple. The next three years they continued to live in Teton Valley and had their first child David. Shortly after they moved to Tennessee so that Noris could work for his Uncles in the construction business. While living there they had their second child HevenLee in 1962.
Soon the little family decided it was time to come back home. In 1963 Noris started working in various shops and service stations trying to find his place in the auto body business. His first start on his own was in 1967 during which Noris rented a shop underneath the old Shamrock Bar next to the Stockyards in Idaho Falls. During that same year, two weeks before Thanksgiving, a home, two car garage and three quarters of an acre came up for sale on Lincoln road. It didn't take long for Noris, Kathy, and their four children (David, HevenLee, Kimberly, and Audra) to move into their new home! Without delay Noris was open for business the Monday after Thanksgiving in his two car garage. That was the beginning of a 50-year legacy that amounted to a twenty-two thousand square foot truck and auto body shop resting on twelve acres.
During Noris' previous work of construction in Tenneesee, he found another love in heavy equipment. After building up his new business, it came natural for him to get into the towing side as well. In 1972 he built his own one ton wrecker. Soon after came a ten wheeler that he put a new 750 wrecker unit on it. No surprise that he was now running and operating six wreckers along with his successful auto body and truck business.
Noris did not find a lot of down time, being a workaholic. He had an eye for detail and had to make sure that everything was just right! It wasn't uncommon to see Noris getting upset if the shop wasn't cleaned and organized just right. However, when he did get down time, he enjoyed anything with a motor that he could make go fast! You would usually find him on a dirt bike with his son David and friends, or out on the track racing his racecar that he built.
One of the greatest qualities Noris possessed was his big heart. With his caring personality, he never missed an opportunity to help others get back on their feet. That mentality along with his strong business sense progressed his small two car garage shop into a successful business that his family could find work opportunities and grow closer together as a family. Classic Truck and Auto Body was started in 1967, and now is passed on to his 2nd and 3rd generation family. The heart of the business has always been centered around family and what you can do to help others. In his absence, his legacy will continue on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
We love you dad and your absence will be felt by all who met you. You are greatly missed.
P.S.- We promise to try to keep your shop clean.
