Obituary

Norman Nance Sedgwick, 87, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was under the care of Alliance Home Health and Hospice.

Norman was born on October 1, 1929, to Roland Burningham and Zira Helena Nance Sedgwick, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in the Bountiful, Utah area. In 1947 he graduated from Davis High School. He attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

On October 14, 1949, he married his true love, Carma Lucina Waite, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they raised their six children.

They lived in many different places including: Bountiful, Cedar City, Boise, Twin Falls, Sacramento, and Idaho Falls. Norman ran his own business, D & B Meat Company and Valley Food Bank.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions including: Bishop, High Councilman, Elder's Quorum President, High Priests Group Leader and teacher in many organizations. He served in the Oakland and Sacramento Temples for more than 20 years.

Norman enjoyed gardening, sports, fishing, and visiting with others.

He will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather who lived the gospel and was very devoted to his family, friends and enjoyed serving others.

He is survived by his wife, Carma Sedgwick, of Idaho Falls, ID; his son, Corey (Joan) Sedgwick, of Madison, Alabama; his daughters: Shelly (Ken) Harris, of Cameron Park, CA; Terry (Mark) Purcell, of Elk Grove, CA; Tonja (Joseph) Poppleton, of Ammon, ID; Tracy (Brian) Ricks, of Idaho Falls, ID; his son, Norman Alan Sedgwick, of Sacramento, CA; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Norma and Beverly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at the LDS Church, 1313 South 2500 West, Syracuse, Utah. The family will visit with friends from 9-10:15 a.m., prior to services, under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary.  Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, Utah.
