Obituary

Norval B. Wease, 85, of Shelley, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at home. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Norval was born on September 29, 1932, in St. Francisville, Illinois. He was the only son born to Ralph Henry and Sarah Elizabeth (Stone) Wease. He spent his youth in Illinois and Michigan. He was joined by two sisters: Sarah and Henrietta.

At the age of 18 he joined the United States Air Force. For the next twenty years Uncle Sam showed him the world. He spent time in Michigan, Florida, Alaska (he was there when Alaska made statehood and talked often of seeing the 49 tons of wood they burned to celebrate). He was stationed on both coasts and enjoyed time on the beaches. He saw England, Hong Kong and Hawaii. In 1966, he was deployed to Viet Nam for a year at CamRahn Bay. His last station was George AFB in Southern California. Norval reached the rank of TSgt. He was a parachute rigger packing shoots for men and jets.

On May 3, 1969, he married Mina Jensen in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were blessed with three children. A daughter, Sarah and two sons: Tony and Waco.

In 1972, he retired and moved his family to Idaho where he gained employment at the site for the next 22 years as an insulator. In 1996, he hung up his coveralls and took up woodworking as a hobby. He made several beautiful pieces that decorated his home, and many were given as gifts.

He was a member of the Baptist church. A lifetime VFW member and a lifetime member of the local Masonic lodge.

After his family, his greatest love was his 1967 Harley motorcycle. To remember Norval, grab a hotdog, start a campfire, tell stories and make memories with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mina; three children: Sarah, Tony Joe and Waco (Shanna) Wease all of Shelley; sisters: Sarah (Bob) Harrington of Tucson, Arizona and Henrietta Carie of Lawrenceville, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
