Obituary

Oralia "La La" Vasquez-Vela, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at her home August 9, 2011 surrounded by her son, Homero and family Bill Tozer and Guadalupe Sanchez. She was born October 3, 1928, in San Benito, Texas, to Carlos Vasquez and Angelina Barron. She grew up and attended schools in Matamoros Mexico and Brownsville, Texas. In 1945, she married Cesario Hinojosa Vela in Matamoros, Mexico. He passed away January 3, 2003. Besides Matamoros and Brownsville, she lived in Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California, and most recently Idaho Falls. Oralia was a active member of the Catholic church, the alter and Rosary Society and other various missionary groups assisting people in need with food, shelter and medical assistance. Oralia enjoyed fashions, sewing, knitting and gardening. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend who will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by the following: Sons: Homero Vela of Idaho Falls and Oscar (Carmen) Vela of Brownsville, Texas; Daughters: Olga Guiza of Rio Bravo, Mexico, and Magda (Roberto) Villarreal of San Antonio, Texas; Sister, Benita Vasquez of Chicago, Illinois; Brother, Renato (Ester)Vasquez of Pharr, Texas; Granddaughters: Audrey Villarreal of San Antonio, TX; Sheral (Thomas) Mick of Astesia, New Mexico; Christina Vela, Abigail Vela, Sarai Vela all of Brownsville, TX; Suzette (Richard) Golf of Chicago, IL; Rosanna (David) Kiser of Vancouver, WA; Olga Cecilia Vela of Honeybrook, PA; Grandsons: Dante (Claudia) Guiza of Houston, TX; Alan (Elsa) Guiza of McAllen, TX; Gillermo (Marlene) Guiza of Guadalajara, Mexico; Oscar (Betty) Vela of Ontario, California; Oscar Junior of Texas and 14 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Cesario, and a sister, Odilia. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August, 19, 2011, at Holy Rosary, 9th and Lee, with Father Jairo Restrepo as the celebrant. The Vela Family wish to thank the nurses, staff and volunteers of Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their loving care and support of their mother.
