Orlaine Betty Merkins Wiger, 79, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Ada, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at her daughter's home. She was under the care of Access Hospice. She was born on August 27, 1936, in Ada, Minnesota, to Henry and Bertha Merkins. Orlaine was the only child from her family to be born in a hospital. She was raised on their farm and graduated from Ada High School in 1954. On June 8, 1957, she married N. Harold Wiger. Harold died in 2011. They raised their 4 children in Ada. While living in Ada she worked as a nurse's aide in the hospital and nursing homes in the area. She continued to live there until Oct. 2012, when she came to Idaho Falls to be with her daughter, Betty. Orlaine was a member of the Lutheran church and was active in the women's group. She enjoyed whist parties, wedding dances, cooking and canning. Mom took care of her parents and four children and babysat for friends and brothers. She took care of her brother when he had cancer and her husband for 53 years. She is survived by her daughters: Betty (Jim) Oloff, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mary (Barry) Schutjer, of Crestview, Florida, Carol (Don) Clark, of Mankato, Minnesota and her son, Keith (Bernice) Wiger, of Morehead, Minnesota, 6 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents and one sister and three brothers. Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the Hope Lutheran Church, 2071 12th Street, Idaho Falls. Funeral and burial will take place in Ada, Minnesota.
