Owen was born in Ogden, Utah, September 26, 1931, to Carlos LaVar Tanner and Norma Lucy Bean Tanner. He attended Madison Elementary, Central Jr. High and graduated from Ogden High School. He also attended Weber College. He served in the Utah National Guard for seven years. Owen married his high school sweetheart, Ina LaVonne (Bonnie) Raat on June 26, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. They were recently able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with many friends and family at their side. Owen had several businesses over the years. He was the proprietor of Model Cleaners and City Cleaners in Idaho Falls. His love for bowling led him to purchase and operate Targhee Lanes in St. Anthony. He also owned a lodge and ran a horse concession in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in the early 70's. He handcrafted western hats, and is you are lucky enough to own one, you know the quality and craftsmanship he put into them. He loved fishing and that desire led him top purchase Trout Haven, his own little piece of Heaven, in Mackay, Idaho. These are just a few of the many ventures that he endeavored in his life. Owen's hobbies included fishing, fly tying, horses, snowmobiling and anything to do with the great outdoors. He was also an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings in the church over the years. One of the callings that really strengthened his testimony was when he served as executive secretary to the Ammon Stake President. Because of his love for the area, he spent his later years in Island Park, Idaho, and wintered in Washington, Utah, where he lived year-round for the last five years. Survivors include his wife, Ina LaVonne (Bonnie) Tanner; his sons: Steven Ray (Bonnie) Tanner of St. George, Utah, David Owen (Tammy) Tanner of Thornton, Colorado; daughters: Lori Lynn (Bryan) Johnson of Idaho Falls, Denise (Greg) Hope of Ucon, and Renae (Kevin) Oswald of Rigby.
