Obituary

Patrick Dana Roy Stephens came into this world September 1, 1954, the son of Troy and Ruth Stephens. He was a twin and a huge surprise as his mother didn't know she was having twins until the nurse called after the doctor to say, "You had better come back here. There is another one coming". Pat was a wonderful blessing his entire life and surprised us often with his wit, charm, love, and generosity. He was fiercely devoted to his beautiful wife, the love of his life and soul mate, Nicki, whom he met in 1998, his children, step-children, and grandchildren as well as to his mother, brothers, and sister. Pat was instrumental in caring for his terminally ill brother, Scott, and his step-daughter, Justine, when burned in a fire. Pat simply spent all of his time with his family when not at work. Pat grew up in Pocatello, graduating Idaho State University with his brother Scott, earning a BSN degree in Nursing. After working 4 years as a Registered Nurse, Pat followed in brother, Scott's footsteps and in 1989, earned his Master's Degree in Anesthesia from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. Pat returned to Idaho and worked at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for many years before practicing freelance Anesthesia in many places. Most recently, Pat provided anesthesia at Mt. View Hospital in Idaho Falls. Pat loved everything outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his Dad, brothers, and sister and then his sons loved to hunt in the woods above Lava Hot Springs. They nicknamed him "the goat" because of his ability to climb everywhere. Pat was honored to serve in the military during Dessert Storm. He provided Anesthesia in Germany and obtained the rank of Captain. Pat was always the life of the party. His silliness made us all laugh all the time. He impersonated Jim Carey better than Jim Carey. Pat and wife, Nicki, recently built an indoor riding arena. It was their dream to help children, touching their lives through pony and horse skills, thereby allowing youth to learn life skills. They recently hosted a field trip where children from Calvary Chapel School came out for a day of fun, education, and fellowship by God's Grace. "Glory Be to God" was the theme. They have also given away 3 horses in the past 3 years by awarding a worthy youth their prize through a raffle in honor of Justine and two separate essay contests. Pat was preceded in death by his father, Troy; brother, Scott, and step-daughter, Justine (Nicki's daughter). He is survived by his wife, Nicki, and their daughter, Stevie Dee (6); and step-son Zakk (18); he is also survived by his children: Mikey (25), Emily (23) (grandson, Brighton), and Joshua (20) by his first wife Lisa Berhorst Stephens, and step-daughter, Heather (step-grandchildren: Ashley and Kyle); his mother, Ruth Stephens of Pocatello ; older brother, Donald Troy of Pocatello; sister, Cathy Foutch(Craig) of Lava Hot Springs, and twin brother, Mike, of Pocatello. Pat was tragically killed October 4, 2010, in a motorcycle accident. He is truly now in heaven with his Lord and Savior and we just really miss him. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Calvary Chapel, 4250 S. 25th E. in Idaho Falls Saturday, October 9th with a viewing from 11:00-11:45 and service at 12:00 with full military honors. The family suggests donations can be made to Calvary Chapel, Idaho Falls for Stevie Dee's education fund.
