Obituary

Paul David Gibbons, 83, of Ucon, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 31, 2025, after years of battling cancer.

AGibbons. He grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1960. He attended Idaho State University for two years and received his associate's degree. Paul served in the National Guard for ten years.

He was briefly married to Connie Dye and was blessed with their son, Todd. Then on October 25, 1968, Paul married Gaylan McDonald in Carson City, Nevada. To this union, two more sons were born: Martell and Gabriel. After almost 52 years together, Gaylan passed away on August 6, 2020.

Paul was a salesman by trade; he retired from Richardson Oil and Loomix but continued working part-time in ag sales until 2010. After he and Gaylan were married, they lived in St. Anthony, Pocatello, and finally, in 1976, settled in Ucon.

Paul was a member of the Rotary Club, he enjoyed spending his time fishing, golfing, gardening, and cooking for his family. Later in life, he picked up the guitar, enjoyed watching Cowboy TV, and going to Cowboy church. Paul's motto was "Do a good deed every day of your life."

To know Paul was to know a genuine one of a kind man. He was funny, kind, hard-working, stubborn, and he cared so deeply for the ones he loved. He always had some words of wisdom to share, a good story to reminisce about the past, or a corny joke to make you laugh when you needed it most. Paul was a man willing to give the shirt off his back to anybody in need, but was not afraid to put someone in their place either. He was tough as nails and fought through more health issues than anyone should ever have to, both his own and those of his dear wife. Yet you would rarely see him without a smile on his face. Paul will be so dearly missed by those who knew & loved him and always remembered for the true gentleman he was.

He is survived by his sister, Charlene of Sacramento, California; his sons: Todd Chase of Boise, Idaho, Martell (Faith) Gibbons of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Gabriel (Lucinda) Gibbons of Ucon, Idaho; his granddaughter, Alex (Justin) Gibbons of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his grandsons: Gavin Gibbons of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Nick (Ashton) Chase of Boise, Idaho, and Cory Chase of Boise, Idaho; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaylan; his sister, Lynette; his brother, Keith; and his parents, David and Verdean Gibbons.
