Obituary

Paul Dean Hanson, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away due to health complications on Friday, April 10, 2026, at his home.

Paul was born on April 8, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Irvin Hanson Jr. and Nona Jean Fullmer Hanson. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1977.

On June 4, 1983, Paul married Sherry Lynn Sherman in Price, Utah. They later divorced after 25 years of marriage but remained lifelong friends.

Paul began his career in sporting goods management and later held several positions within Bonneville School District 93. In his younger adult years, he enjoyed serving as a Scout leader and working for the Forest Service during the summers. He also found joy in serving as a youth baseball program coordinator.

Paul loved spending time camping, fishing, golfing (especially Wii golf), playing pinochle, taking road trips, watching sports, and enjoying nature shows. Above all, he cherished his role as Grandpa.

Paul had a big heart and was always accepting of others. He was known for his great sense of humor and his relentless sarcasm, which brought laughter to those around him.

He is survived by his children: daughters Ashley (Kevin) Lindley and Jordan (Dillon) Hansen, both of Idaho Falls; and son Nathan Paul Hanson (Noemi Villalpando) of Henderson, Nevada; as well as his brother, Ron (Paula) Hanson of Idaho Falls. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Saydie Lindley, Braelynn Hansen, Evan Lindley, Charlie Lindley, Easton Hansen, and Hunter Hansen.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Nona Hanson, and his sister, Linda (Greg) Lenz.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Park Conservation Association or the Alzheimer’s Association (in honor of his mom and sister) with the links listed below the obituary.
