Obituary

Pearl Rowbury Gardner Bright, 87, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 1, 1919, in Shelley, Idaho to William Henry Rowbury and Edna Christensen Rowbury. She grew up and attended schools in Shelley and Firth, and in 1937, she graduated from Shelley High School.

On Nov. 22, 1938, she married Irving Gardner in the Logan LDS Temple. He died April 12, 1963. On June 15, 1978, she married Elmer Parley Bright . They were later divorced. She lived in Shelley, Firth, Osgood, Arco, Blackfoot and in Idaho Falls for the past 43 years. She worked as a sales representative for Avon, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, as a telephone solicitor for a music company, for Bell Builders Supply in Rexburg, in the cafeteria at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, and in the laundry at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Primary, as a counselor in the Relief Society, as a magazine representative, a visiting teacher, extraction worker, and sang in the choir.

She enjoyed and was active in the Shelley Senior Citizens group.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making valentines, writing poetry, making fabric covered photo albums, and playing the organ which she taught herself to play.

Pearl wrote and published a Christmas song, The Christmas Story.

She is survived by the following: daughter, Sherril (Theo) Harker of Carson City, Nevada daughter, Karen Christensen of Peyton, Colorado son, Leornal (Gayle) Gardner of Hermiston, Oregon daughter, Myrna (Doyle) Lamb of Challis, Idaho son, Dennis (Janet) Gardner of Ronan, Montana daughter, Jewel (Timothy) Idaho Falls, Idaho son, Kevin (Sherri) Gardner of St. George, Utah son, Del Ray (Angela) Gardner of Grovertown, Indiana daughter, Amber (James C.) Starling of Challis, Idaho 42 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren sister, June (Jack) Cornia of Riverside, Idaho sister, Edna Thompson of San Diego, California

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Irving Gardner; brothers, Denzil, Virgil, Francis, Rex, Dayton, Edwin, and Floyd Rowbury; sisters, Lucille, May, and Ruth.

Funeral services will be at `11:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff First Ward, 1660 12th St., with Bishop Lamar Densley officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 7-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.
