Obituary

Pearl LaPrea Hansen Harris, 88, of Iona, passed away Nov. 1, 2005, at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation of natural causes.

She was born June 28, 1917, in Clawson, Idaho, to William Andrew Hansen and Maggie May Ames Hansen. She grew up in Teton Valley on a ranch in Clawson, just east of Tetonia. She graduated from Teton High School in 1935. She attended and then graduated in 1938 from Excelsis Beauty School in Idaho Falls. She owned and operated a Beauty Salon with her sister, Ruth, in Driggs.

On June 17, 1942, she married Vernon Harris in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent their early years in Teton Valley farming and ranching. In 1971, they moved to Rexburg where they lived until June 7, 1976, when the Teton Dam collapsed. They moved to Iona where she lived until the time of her passing.

The loves of her life were her companion of 56 years, her family, and her many friends.

Her hobbies and interests were sewing, reading, and being involved with her family as they participated in chariot and flat truck racing, which she loved to take part in.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions throughout her life.

She is survived by three children: her son, Neil (wife, Jere) Harris of Idaho Falls, a daughter, MaeDene (husband, Garry) Jardine of Tetonia, and a daughter, Carry Gene (husband, Blake) Hill of Idaho Falls; a sister, Marilyn Buttars of Rexburg; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; 5 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at the Iona Stake Center, 5169 E. Denning Ave. with Bishop Kenneth Wrightson officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The family would like to express gratitude to Pearl's neighbors and the many wonderful people of the Iona 2nd Ward, who were always their to help in any way they could. We are grateful for the special care and attention that Pearl received at EIRMC; especially, the staff of the 4th and 6th floors; the staff at Idaho Falls Health & Rehabilitation; and to the dedicated care of Dr. Leland Krantz.
