Obituary

Pearl Ina Ricks Davenport, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Rebecca Tyler. She was born May 8, 1925, in Teton, Idaho, to Owen Winford Ricks and Sadie Ina Jacobs Ricks. She grew up in Idaho Falls and Shelley. Prior to her marriage, Pearl worked in Berkeley, California for a couple of years. On May 24, 1943, she married Myron Lufkin Davenport in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. While Myron was serving in the Navy during World War II, Pearl lived with her parents. Following his discharge, they moved to Provo. The Navy took them to Key West, Florida. In 1951, they moved to Rexburg and in 1954, they moved to Idaho Falls where they have made their home to the present time. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and among the callings she had were Young Women's camp director, a teacher in several organizations and as a member of the Stake Sunday School. Pearl and Myron served in the West Virginia Mission, Albuquerque, New Mexico Mission and at the Deseret Industries in Idaho Falls. Pearl enjoyed watching T. V. and movies, and she made the best candy ever! She filled her days with good works and loving service. She is survived by the following: Husband, Myron L. Davenport of Idaho Falls;Sons: Ron (Anne) Davenport of Kaysville, Utah; Stanley (Telecia) Davenport of Idaho Falls and Bryan (Peggy) Davenport of Chubbuck, Idaho;Daughters: Luanne (Dan) Lance of Arco, Idaho; Joan (Richard) Kerr of Chugiak, Alaska; and Rebecca (Aldon) Tyler of Ucon, Idaho; a brother, Franklin Ricks of Idaho Falls;29 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Alice Christensen, Donna Butikofer, Dorothy Franck, and Mona Frei; grandchildren: Mindy Lynn Lance and Ronald Terry Kerr and a great-grandchild, Ian Mackay Pearson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday April 26, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Drive with Bishop Ryan Loftus conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church.
