Peggy Joyce Day, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 10, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born October 17, 1936, in Genola, Utah, to H. McClain Nelson and Estella Smith Nelson. She grew up in Genola and then later in Idaho Falls. In 1954, Peggy graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She attended Colorado State University in Boulder where she earned a bachelors degree in elementary education. On December 28, 1955, she married Carl LeRoy Day in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Besides Genola and Idaho Falls, she lived in Logan, Utah; Salt Lake City, Utah; Cumberland, Maryland; Boulder, Colorado; Rigby and Rexburg, Idaho. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had served as a Relief Society teacher and President, a Choir Director, Young Women's teacher, and a Cub Scout den leader. With her husband, she served a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois. She was an elementary school teacher in District #251 and there, she was a member of the negotiating team. Peggy loved to play golf and racquetball, go camping with her family, and painting landscapes. She was a loving mother, devoted wife and a dedicated teacher. She is survived by her husband, Carl L. Day of Idaho Falls; sons: Allen (Kris) Day of Idaho Falls; Gordon (Shirstine) Day of Sandy, Utah; and Mitchell Day of Moscow, Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Tina Wyatt of Logan, Utah; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by a son, Nelson Day, and her parents. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Homestead LDS Ward Chapel, 2967 E. 105 North with Bishop Ryan Loftus officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, September 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and Saturday from 11:00 until 1 p.m. at the church.
