Percy Miller Cox, 92, of Idaho Falls, died January 13, 2006, at his home in Idaho Falls.
He was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Jameston, Idaho, the son of Thomas Harrison and Nellie Katherine Miller Cox. He grew up in Jameston, Idaho, and attended Shelley High School.
He married Virginia Balmforth Jan. 5, 1936 in Jameston. She died Dec. 18, 1941. He married Erma Harker Liljenquist Dec. 31, 1942, in Shelley, Idaho. During his life, he lived in Jameston, Woodville, Shelley, and Idaho Falls. He owned and operated a farm and cattle operation east of Shelley. He also worked for Idaho Potato Growers in Blackfoot for several winters. He ran the farm for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints along with his own for several years. He retired in l981.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served in various positions including serving in the first bishopric of the Shelley Fifth Ward.
He enjoyed working with horses, maintaining his own workshop, fishing, camping trips with family, woodworking, bowling, and traveling. Since retirement, he and his wife, Erma, spent winters in Yuma, Arizona; Hemet, California; and St. George, Utah. He was a loving, fair, honest, kind, and patient giant of a man.
Survivors include: wife, Erma Cox, of Idaho Falls daughter, Alene Cox (Thayne) Huntsman, Shelley, ID daughter, Jean Liljenquist (K) Robison, IF daughter, Joan Liljenquist Hill (Larry) Cheney, IF daughter, Connie Cox (Val) Robison, Orem, UT daughter, Peggy Cox West (Mike) Plankinton, Fairplay, CO daughter, Barbara Cox (Melvin) Wheeler, IF 30 grandchildren 69 great-grandchildren brother, Don (Blanche, deceased) Cox of Shelley, ID brother, Robert (Doris) Cox of Rigby, ID brother, William (Karma) Cox of Idaho Falls sister-in-law, Bonnie Cox of Washington
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia, a grandson, and the following brothers and sisters: Clint and Richard Cox, Nora Fielding, Ila Allen, Katherine Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon, Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at the Parkwood LDS Ward on 2nd and Higbee, Idaho Falls, by Bishop Scott Bruce. The family will meet with friends Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, and for an hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
