Peter Dowell Randolph, 82, of Idaho Falls died December 23, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Society - Idaho Falls Village.

He was born May 7, 1926, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Erle C. Randolph and Mary Louise Mosheim Randolph. He grew up in Oak Park and in 1944, he graduated from York Community High School. He served in the U.S. Navy where he trained as a radio technician. He attended Flint Jr. College in Flint, Michigan, from 1946-1948. In 1950, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering physics followed by a Masters of Physics degree and in 1958, a PhD in physics.

On January 15, 1955, he married Betty Lee Hahn in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He was employed at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, Phillips Petroleum Company, Idaho Nuclear Corporation, Aerojet Nuclear Company, EG&G Idaho, and Lockheed-Martin Idaho Technology Company.

He played the bass clarinet with the Idaho Falls Symphony for 24 years and was a founding member of the Idaho Falls Community Band.

He is survived by the following: wife, Betty Randolph of Idaho Falls; sons: Mike Randolph of Rigby, Idaho, and Steven (Carolyn) Randolph of Peoria, Illinois; one brother, Phillip Randoloph of Santa Fe, Nem Mexico; one sister, Elsie Randolph of Des Moines, Iowa; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
