Ralph was born February 26, 1929 to Ervin Watson and Josephine Ora (Butler) Murdock in Sugar City, Idaho. He spent his youth at school and working with his father herding sheep traveling all around the Snake River Basin. He graduated from Sugar-Salem High school in 1948 where he enjoyed track and field setting several records. He later spent one year at Ricks College (BYU-I). On June 14, 1951 he was married to his lifelong sweetheart, Joy Hendricks for time and all eternity in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple and started their life together in Sugar City. Together they have four wonderful children: Sandra Jacobson (Quinn), Scott Ervin Murdock (Debbie), Becky Stokes (Dale) and Cassie Jo Blomquist (Dennis). Ralph's family has continued to grow. He is survived by his sweetheart of sixty-two years, his four children and their spouses, 21 grand children and 54 great grand children. After Ralph was married he worked several different jobs from construction to working with dairy cattle. He and his family spent a few short years in Montana where all the family grew to love and enjoy the great outdoors. Upon returning to Sugar City Ralph started working at various phases of construction of which he spent most of his adult life. When he no longer wanted the rigors of construction he ventured into custodial services at the INEL (INL). Ralph loved life, but he really loved God, family and country. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and used those to help teach his family life principles. He was also had a great talent for drawing. He loved to draw birds and wildlife. He was a man of few words when he spoke; generally speaking in parables, but those that knew him, knew to listen when he spoke. Ralph slipped away from this life on April 21, 2013. After a long battle with severe illness that caused him to enjoy a luxury suite on too many occasions at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was treated and revived on many occasions in the past four months there. The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude for the kindness and thoughtfulness of the medical staff that helped him during his several stays there. Funeral services will be held at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 1st Street, in Idaho Falls, Idaho; Monday, April 29th at 11 am. Viewings will be held the night before from 6 to 8 pm and one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Wilford Cemetery in Wilford, Idaho at 3 pm the afternoon of the 29th.
