IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramona Cuthbert
Bishop
March 15, 1933 – November 26, 2020
On March 15, 1933, Ramona Lou Cuthbert left her heavenly home and entered the reality we call life. This new little angel was born to John Alexander Cuthbert, Jr and Thelma Catheryn Melogue. She had an older sister, Margaret Francis Cuthbert that died as a baby, and a younger sister, Julia Annette Cuthbert Bishop. Mom passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2020, in Loveland, Colorado due to complications from COVID-19 and heart disease.
Mom would always talk about how much she enjoyed baseball because it brought back endearing memories of spending time with her "daddy" as he cleaned the local baseball field. She loved her mom and dad tremendously. Mom fondly recounted a memory of when she got lost and how scared her dad was, and that when she was found she noticed that he now had gray hair. His response was that he was so scared of losing her that it made his hair go gray in a day.
Mom would spend a lot of time with her mom and Uncle Bill (her mom's single brother). Many road trips were made with the family up to Montana to visit and sometimes stay a while. Mom was a caregiver. This started at a young age since Grammy was a nurse that worked the night shift, and grandpa was much older than Grammy when they married. Mom took care of Grandpa during his later years until he passed. Even in the last days of mom's life, she served as a caregiver to the people around her to make sure they were comfortable and happy.
Mom married Stanley Smith Bishop on January 20, 1954, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. To this union, there were born four children: Jon David (Kathline Hill), James Stanley, Janet Louise (Calvin Castro), and Rebecca Marie (Wendell Hutchings). Mom and Dad lived in Montana and Idaho. Early in their marriage, Dad became extremely ill and was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia. We, as a family, dealt with this, but mom especially, as she continued in her role as caregiver, and all that came with that responsibility. She cared for dad's ups and downs until he passed away in 2007. During this time, mom began to take a more active role in taking care of her mom and Uncle Bill. Grammy suffered from a stroke and mom would spend countless hours at the hospital and nursing home caring for her. As time went on, Uncle Bill needed more care, so he moved in with Mom and Dad. Mom continued caring for him until he passed about 10 years later in 2001. In 2010, we moved Mom to Colorado to live the rest of her life with her daughter Becky and son-in-law Wendell.
Mom genuinely cared about people and making them happy. She spent many years as a volunteer at the hospital in Idaho Falls helping in the ER, crocheting hundreds of gorgeously detailed baby blankets, serving in numerous church callings, and also serving in the Idaho Falls Temple. Mom also loved to draw and had the most beautiful calligraphy writing. Mom joined the Civil Air Patrol on February 14 th , 1949 in the Idaho Falls squadron. She was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers until she moved to Colorado and could no longer attend the meetings due to the travel distance. Mom attended a Knitters and Crocheters group each week to continue her love of that talent and to bless those receiving the gifts that were made.
Survivors include a son, James Stanley Bishop, Idaho Falls, ID; two daughters, Janet (Calvin) Castro, Powell, WY; and Rebecca (Wendell) Hutchings, Severance, CO; 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters (Margaret Francis and Julia Annette), and her son Jon David. Mom is finally free to be with the family and pets that she has so dearly missed.
