Randal Schaat, 62, of Idaho Falls , Idaho , died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home. He was born, February 3, 1948, in Rexburg , Idaho , to Charly and Wanda Josephson Schaat. He grew up in St. Anthony and moved to Idaho Falls when he was in the 4th grade. He attended and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1966. He served four years in the United States Navy. He married Susan Reick in Idaho Falls on December 26, 1969. He worked for various contractors and for Burggraf Construction for 15 years. He also owned his own business, Schaat Construction. He was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to invent and could build anything out of wood or metal. He liked to fish and loved to be with his family and his dog, Chloe. He also loved music and art. He valued hard work, had a great work ethic and was always willing to help others. He always enjoyed a challenge. He is survived by his wife, Susan Schaat of Idaho Falls; son, Joel (Sheri) Schaat of Idaho Falls; daughter, Amy (James) Detiege of Solon, Iowa; son, William Schaat of Idaho Falls; daughter, Tracey Baldwin of Idaho Falls; brother, Clay (Sherry) Schaat of Utah; brother, Jason Schaat of Seattle , Washington; 12 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Lee Schaat, sister Leann Schaat, and his parents. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street , Idaho Falls . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Military Honor Guard.
