Randy J Summers, 60, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, after a heroic battle against cancer. He was under the care of his best friend and devoted long-time companion, Estella Lockyer, his sister Dyan Summers, and the wonderful staff of Eden Hospice.

Randy was born on July 28, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended Bonneville High School and a short program at Idaho State University in Pocatello. He worked as a line cook in the local food industry throughout his career, dedicating most of his time to working at Smitty’s and O’Brady’s.

His passion in life was his Pitbull puppy, Patron. He loved Patron deeply, and they had an incredible bond. Patron was elderly, also had cancer, and passed away at home 24 hours before Randy did. Neither wanted to live without the other.

Rock and Roll, especially heavy metal music, was his other true passion. He had a very extensive collection of rock memorabilia and was most notably devoted to collecting things related to the iconic rock band KISS.

Randy struggled with alcoholism from the age of 15. At the time of his death, he had been sober for 7 months and 1 week. That was truly the biggest accomplishment of his life. He was not afraid to die but wanted to die sober. Even throughout his struggle with alcoholism, he was deeply religious and wanted to die as a sober Christian.

He is survived by his mother, Jeneal Summers; his brother, Brandon (Willie) Summers; his sister, Dyan (Matt) Summers; his son, Zak Summers; Zak's mother, Michelle Summers, who is his former spouse and friend; his grandson, Connor; and his best friend and long-term companion, Estella. He is also survived by many extended family members and a very loyal group of personal friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Summers; his son, Kyle Summers; and both sets of grandparents.

Services will be held in September, and further details are in process. A foundation called Patron’s Fund has been established to honor Randy and Patron. The fund is devoted to providing veterinary services to pets whose owners cannot otherwise afford care. Instead of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to Patron’s Fund.
