After a long battle with a frail body, Rebecca (Becky) Morgan Hammon, died July 30, 2015, of natural causes. She was born on June 13, 1954, to Don B. & Ella Lindsay Morgan in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She attended Lincoln Elementary and Bonneville High School. Becky married Edward Hammon in 1973; together they had two boys, Shane and Brandon. Becky will always be in our hearts. Her greatest love was for her boys, Shane and Brandon, and for her family. She gave her whole life to others. Always the peacemaker in the family, Becky was also quick to step in and help anyone she saw in need. She was known for her kindness, her strong loyalty to family and friends, her tender-heartedness, and her quick laughter and sense of humor. Though she suffered from intense shyness, she deeply loved people and had a special way with children and animals. In 1991, her son Brandon suffered a massive brain injury. Through many operations and years of therapy, Becky never left his side. When her oldest son, Shane, developed Diabetes, she cared for him as well. During Shane's healthy periods, he was a great help to Becky as they both bathed, dressed, fed, and took care of Brandon at home for over 24 years, maneuvering a wheel chair in and out of many strange places. But, she thoroughly enjoyed playing long Word Search games with Brandon. She became an expert at interpreting his endless questions and comments. Becky also loved doing crafts of all kinds, but she could also fix a kitchen sink and a broken vacuum cleaner as well as any professional. She loved beauty and often spent more time wrapping a present perfectly than she did buying it. Becky did not leave a legacy of mansions and riches to her family, nor did she win any lifetime achievement awards. But, as she moves into eternity, she trails behind her gifts of pure gold. She leaves us with precious memories of camping trips, picnics, late night giggling, Halloween candy binges, Easter egg hunts, and long pinochle games. Becky could turn any birthday, BBQ, or holiday into a happy shining event. But more than this, she left us with an example of how to treat others with respect and kindness. No matter how hard her life became, she always tried to look for the bright little treasures. She was a gift to all those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Shane and Brandon Hammon, her parents, Don & Ella Morgan, all of Idaho Falls, ID; her two sisters and a brother: Sharon Morgan (Rigby, ID), Jacqueline Pierce (AZ), & Scott Morgan (Weiser, ID) She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hammon and her sister, Karon Morgan Whitehead. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 E. First Street, Idaho Falls.
