Obituary

Rex Ward Steele, 64, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 21, 2011, at his home from suicide. He was born June 28, 1946, in Lafayette, Indiana, the son of Martha Beth Ward and Ray W. Steele. He grew up in Indiana, Iowa, and Venezuela. He graduated from Colegio Internacional de Carabobo in 1964. He attended Utah State University where he received a B.A. degree in Landscape Design in 1969, and B.A. in Art in 1978. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972. He married Pegge McGuire on June 14, 1986. Mr. Steele taught art in Firth School District from 1978 to 2001. He worked as a landscape designer for Town and Country Gardens from 2004 through 2008. He enjoyed camping, biking, cross-country skiing and gardening. He served on the Nordic Ski Patrol from 1979 to 1988. Survivors include: His wife, Pegge McGuire Steele, Idaho Falls, a sister, Gay Medina, Ogden, Utah, and a nephew, Andrés Medina, Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray W. Steele and his mother, Martha Beth Ward Steele. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho.
