He was born April 17, 1950 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Robert Allen Collins and Verla Elliott Collins. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 1968. He served with the U.S. Army.
On Oct. 23, 2006, he married Kim O'Neal in Idaho Falls. He worked for Midstate Transport, Inc.; he owned Midstate Express Inc., and at the time of his death he was working for H & K Contractors.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and camping.
He was fun loving, a prankster, kind, generous and Richard was Kim's prince.
He is survived by the following: spouse, Kim Collins of Idaho Falls daughter, Bobbie Renae (Matt) Cleverley of Nampa, ID step-son, Damon O'Neal of Atlanta, Georgia a sister, Cheryl Collins and a brother, Reo Collins both of Idaho Falls
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Brent.
A Celebration of life memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007, at the Eagles Lodge, 635 Hemmert Dr. with Sonny Morris officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
Flowers may be sent, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5386, Boise, ID 83705. A special thanks to Madison Memorial Hospital and Dr. Dane Dickson and staff for the extra special care of Richard.
