Robert Dale Carruthers, 69, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 5, 1939, to Dale Stanley and Dorthy May Carruthers in Idaho Falls.  He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1957.

He served in the Idaho National Guard.

He married Rosalind R. Rasmussen on March 1, 1978, in Idaho Falls and had 25 wonderful years with her.  Rosalind passed away on May 14, 2003.

He served a pipefitter apprenticeship.

He worked in his trade on various construction projects and most recently at the INEEL from 1992-2001, until he retired.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He enjoyed golfing, hiking, camping and bike riding.

He is survived by the following: son, Scott (Etha) R. Carruthers of Twin Falls, Idaho; son, Eric (Donna) Patrick Carruthers of Camano Island, Washington; daughter, Melissa (Elmer) Olney of Renton, Washington; step-daughter, Robyn Hoffman of Idaho Falls; sister, Joyce (Brad) Powell of Honolulu, Hawaii; sister, Joann (Phil) Hancock of Sandy, Utah; 8 grandchildren, Patrick, Andy, Christopher, Caitlynd, Zachery, Aspen, Braeden, Hannah.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalind, step-sons Ryan, Bruce, and his parents, Dale and Dorthy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Coltrin Mortuary and one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.  Interment will be at Victor Cemetery in Victor, Idaho .
