IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Mountz
September 16, 1928 – March 10, 2016
Robert "Bob" Mountz, 87, passed away March 10, 2016. He died peacefully after a brief illness, with his wife, Lila, and his daughters, Cathy Wise and Nancy Oksendahl present. He was residing at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living and was under the care of Encompass Hospice.
Bob is also survived by his daughter, Vicky Wilding of Apache Junction, Az., 6 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister, Ruth Wood, and brother, Wayne Mountz.
Bob was born September 16, 1928 in Royal Oak (Detroit) Michigan to Wayne and Phyllis Mountz. He grew up in Michigan and spent much time with his father hunting and fishing. He excelled in these sports and loved the outdoors.
Bob joined the Navy Jan. 10, 1946 and served with the Seabees in Guam. He was discharged Nov. 4, 1947. After his military service he returned to Detroit and began transporting automobiles to the western states. That brought him to Idaho.
In 1948 he met Lila Kiesling of McCammon, ID and they married November 3, 1948. They were married for 67 years and raised three daughters. Bob and Lila were very close and enjoyed doing things together. They especially enjoyed camping, fishing and horseback riding. They loved the North Fork of the Big Lost River and Salmon River country, the Selway, and Lake Pend Orielle. Hebgen Lake was another favorite. Bob was heard to say many times, "You can't put a price on your pleasure." They also loved gardening, cooking, eating out, and just spending time together.
Bob's father also taught him the commercial, residential, and auto glass trades. Bob worked in the glass trade at Center Paint and Glass in Pocatello, managed Valley Glass, owned General Glass, and did windshield repair for Windshield Rescue. He was well known and respected by many business men and women, employees, and customers in the Idaho Falls area through his years in the retail glass trade. He was wonderful with people, with a good sense of humor and always looking for some way to express a personal interest in them. People who knew him even a brief time were very fond of him due to that personal interest.
In 1948 Bob began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. He was baptized on July 19, 1953 in New York City. One of the keys to his love of the Bible was the promise of a paradise earth with good people living in peace forever. Psalm 37:11, 29 and Matthew 5:5 refer to the meek inheriting the earth, and he expressed that hope to the very end. Over the years he became very involved in going from door to door preaching about God's purposes for the earth, assisting in the local congregation, and Kingdom Hall construction projects around the region.
A memorial service will be held March 19, at 2:00 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4805 Sweetwater Way, Ammon, ID.
