Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Sinclair Parker, 65, of Idaho Falls, died February 9, 2010, at the Yellowstone Group Home at Fox Hollow in Idaho Falls. Bobby was born November 10, 1944, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Shirley Kaye Stoddard and Elbert Russell Parker. He was injured when he was born, and the result was the most endearing creature ever created. He was inventive, colorful, resourceful, witty, and above all unceasingly loving. He spent his childhood in Pocatello and Ridgecrest, California. The last three decades of his life were under the exquisite care of the Yellowstone Group Home in Idaho Falls. His days there were rich and variedfishing, boating, swimming, dancing, camping, putting on programs, singing, training for his day job and raising heck. The people who worked with him so effectively and devotedly enabled him to find an expression for his abilities. His drawer was full of Special Olympic medals and he left us many delicate and mysterious paintings. The staff at Fox Hollow stood by him in his last days, even when that task became an around-the-clock endeavor. They have risen so much higher than any of us could have hoped for, or expected, or even imagined. We will never forget what they gave to Bobby and how the community of Idaho Falls opened their arms to him. His Mother always had a special relationship with him. She has been long suffering, faithful, conscientious, and full of unfailing grace with her son. People have loved Bobby from all walks of life. He defied categorization, and as such, other people gave up ranks, categories and expectations. Whatever chance or circumstance or God assembled Bobby, we got something so rare, so wonderful, so not of this world. We have loved him for so long. Bobby is survived by his mother, Shirley Parker, of Blackfoot; his sisters, Jeanne (Danny) Roth of Kaysville, Utah; Jeri Parker, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Kathleen (Frank) Tomazin, of Blackfoot, and many loving nieces, nephews and care givers. He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Parker, and grandparents: Roy and Phyllis Stoddard and Woodson and Margaret Parker. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in St. Anthony. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Yellowstone Group Home, 370 Hollow Drive, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
