He was born May 3, 1925 in Idaho Falls the son of George and Lillian Kienker Schwarze. Robert grew up in the Milo area, the fifth child of seven, and attended Milo Elementary School. He attended Ammon High School and won a Golden Glove boxing award, lightweight division. He continued boxing while serving in the US Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier Kalinin Bay and was trained as Electricians Mate, Third Class and honorably discharged June 1946. On May 30, 1948 he married Vera Ryner of Idaho Falls in Reno, Nevada. They then returned to the family farm near Ucon, Idaho where they lived the next 20 years. Bob loved the farming life, surrounded by animals, making plants and trees grow. Over his lifetime he probably planted hundreds of trees. He achieved the Idaho Falls Junior Chamber of Commerce award for Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 1959. Elks Lodge #1087 where he and wife enjoyed socializing and attending dances, where they often stole the show with their performance. He loved the farming life and returned to it when retired, gardening in summers and wintering in San Carlos, Mexico, where he was able to fish almost daily. He loved traveling and had gone on several trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Spain, Hawaii and Alaska. He was an avid reader, a man with a gentle humor which made him a multitude of friends.
