Obituary

Robert (Bob) Louis Wolz, 78, of Idaho Falls , died Tuesday, December 11, 2007, near Cedar City , Utah , of injuries sustained in a plane crash.

Bob was born October 30, 1929 in Lovell , Wyoming , to Louis Larraine and Dorothy Jane Coulam Wolz. He lived his childhood in Sugar City , and Ucon. He later graduated from Rigby High School in 1947.

Bob was a man with many amazing talents and interests. He had a great love for his family, friends, and an unlimited amount of faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission for the church in the British Mission field in 1949.

After returning from his mission, he married Patsy Allen. To this union there were 2 children born Karen and Gary. They later divorced. He enlisted in US Air Force in 1957 and was discharged in 1961. He married and later divorced Marilyn Wahl. He adopted her daughters Christine and Melinda. Robert married Gayle Irish Mays Wolz October 7, 1977 in Pocatello , Idaho . Their marriage was solemnized October 7, 1978 in the Ogden Temple , Ogden Utah . He lovingly adopted her daughter Kimberly.

He served as Executive Secretary in the LaBelle, Idaho 3 rd Ward, High Councilman and Ward secretary. He was currently serving as Gospel Doctrine teacher in the Ammon 18 th Ward, and as a Temple Officiator for the past 11 years.

His many hobbies included photography, hunting, and a deep passion for aviation and flying that spanned more than 60 years. He was a master craftsman in building remote controlled airplanes as well as having a great interest in firearms.

Survivors include his wife Gayle, children: Karen (Fred) Sanford of Centerville, Utah; Gary Louis (Allison) Wolz of Turlock, California; Step children: Steven (Jodie) Mays of Superior, Wisconsin; Gregory (Debbie) Mays of Idaho Falls; Martin (Connie) Mays of Rigby; James (Lisa) Mays of Mountain Home; and Kimberly Mays Wolz Pence of Idaho Falls; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Gerald Wolz of Rigby; Paul Wolz of Casper, Wyoming; and Dorothy Nedo of Salt Lake City, UT.

He was preceded in death by a grandson and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at the Ammon LDS 18 th Ward Chapel, 4459 John Adams Parkway with Bishop Rod Draney officiating. There will not be any public visitation held. Interment will be in the Ammon Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
